Fleet Week has gone passed us by but my love for all things Nautical have not. I bought this a couple of weeks ago and finally threw it on today along with my new jeans I bought at H&M (which sort of go with the Nautical theme). I felt a little bare without all of the accessories I usually pile on so threw on my beloved red scarf, braided my hair (bad hair day), and I was off.

Guess Who Is Featured On Lucky Style Spotter??

Yep, you guessed it! ME!

I know to some people this isn’t a big deal but for me it really made my day! I woke up with a splitting headache and swollen eyeballs so this put a smile on my face.

Luckystylespotter did a little feature on me where I was asked to pick my favorite looks from the site and answer some questions about my style inspiration, check me out here.

The weird thing is that the first girl who was featured as a Power Style Spotter was the same girl that I was featured with on Painfully Hip. Small world.

Is anyone going to the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this weekend?

I'm going tomorrow with a new friend and I love meeting new people! Especially like-minded thrifters and vintage lovers!! See below for details.

The 5th Annual Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn is THIS WEEKEND!! This year’s event is taking place June 6 + 7 from 11am - 7pm, at McCarren Park. The Artist list is up, so check it out and get a sneak peak at who will be there! Please spread the word, and grab a web banner below for your site, blog, etc.

Over 300 indie crafters are participating in the fair, so there’s sure to be something for everyone! Be sure to stop by our Info booth near the corner of Bedford + N. 12th St. to sign up for Raffles provided by Sublime Stitching, Stencil 1 and Craftside. And grab some delicious grub from Urban Rustic, Lefty’s & The Treats Truck!

The Renegade Craft Fair is FREE to attend, and open to the public. Take public transportation to the Fair by hopping on either the G or L trains to Brooklyn. Hop off at Bedford Ave. and walk north to McCarren park if you’re riding the L Train or, if you’re riding the G Train, get off at Nassau and walk two blocks south!

Chunky (Super High) Heels-These heels were a bit of a splurge and since I have been to New York I haven’t worn these but I just ran errands around the The Heights so I thought why not?!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

It was a wonderfully outrageous, crowded, annoying, bright, fantastic time!

I decided to do the touristy New York thing last night with my cousin (she is in town for a couple of days) so we thought where is the cheesiest place we could go? Um..hello? Time Square.

Exciting News..Maybe?!

So, I’m sure this won’t turn out exactly how I want it to but I’m still pumped!

I post my daily threads on Lucky Style Spotter and I receive the random email from them but yesterday I received an exciting surpise that from a survey I filled out they were intrigued by my survey questions (mainly regarding being recession chic/thrifty and how my style and shopping has been influenced) and they have requested a couple more pictures in the hope to be considered for an interview for a prospective photoshoot here in New York!!!

I’m trying not to get my hopes up but how awesome would it be to even be called for an interview?! What an awesome day!

I have felt more inspired and creative in the mere 3 weeks I have lived in NY than I have in a very long time. Maybe it’s the hustle & bustle of the city, the street fairs, the street vendors, the cultural diversity, the food, and of course the city in itself.

My list of DIY to do’s so far are:
Feather/Flower Headbands/Barrettes & Pins
Learn To Sew So I Can Hem & Alter Clothes I Already Own But Don’t Wear
Do Some Tye-Dye’ing
Jewelry Making
Work On Design/Graphics/Photo Editing On This Blog

I’m sure that I will think of more. We should definitely put together a Creative DIY Brainstorming Meetup. Anyone interested??

Today is also the first day I took my picture outside of the apartment and I have to say it felt pretty great! Even though it was taken in an alley behind my steps…

A Little Knitting Goodness

Today I took a little adventure through my neighborhood and came across a cart full of goodness. I bought this cute knitted hat for a $1.00 and I LOVE it! I am excited to play around with it and this is the perfect "I haven't washed my hair and I'm too lazy to fix it" days. Today it was in braids and I stuffed them into the knitted hat and it's cooling on a hot summer day.

Here is a collage I did to document this moment.
